This collection is made up of mixed media pieces representing the themes of dereliction and decay. Throughout this project I wanted to push the boundaries of these forgotten places and inspire the viewer to question what "could be" rather than what is right in front of them.
The initial imagery became more and more abstract as the project progressed, with collage and colour distorting the familiar shapes. The final piece combines 4 different sections of a derelict building to create a new room that is exciting and a little bit confusing for the viewer, forcing them to question what "could be" rather than creating something instantly recognisable.
The black and white versions of the collograph print have a very vintage photography feel to them. They almost seem nostalgic.
The addition of colour creates a very psychedelic atmosphere, with movement and wonder. While the shapes stay the same, the addition of bright ink changes the mood of the piece entirely.
